With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Psalm 119:10
I used to sing with an a cappella choral group several (cough, cough lol) years ago. We were fortunate enough to have a song composed for our group by a celebrated and award-winning musician who used several verses of Psalm 119 as lyrics. While it was not my first time hearing these texts, the song made them come alive in my heart. What I love about this particular verse is the simplicity of the relationship David describes. He holds nothing back in seeking God, and realizes that this is the key to keeping God's commands. He continues by saying that he has hidden God's word in his heart, so that he would not sin against Him (vs 11).
What if seeking God and keeping His commandments wasn't as difficult as we make it out to be?
What things have you sought with your whole heart lately? Have you sought after God with the same intensity? I'll be honest, it seems like there are so many things that get in the way of me seeking Him with my whole heart. But today that changes. Starting with how my day begins. What if seeking God and keeping His commandments wasn't as difficult as we make it out to be? Can it be as fluid as breathing out a prayer of thanksgiving and praise as our eyes open, or obeying the Spirit's prompting to speak positively to and within our communities (whomever this may represent for you)?
All I know it this, when we realign our focus on seeking God, obeying His commandments becomes our natural response to His outpouring of love.
From my Seeker heart to yours,
Quanny
